The Challenge

C&W was instructed to provide advice to The Walker Group in connection with the purchase of a 1,207 sq m (13,000 sq ft) office building at 202 Broomielaw. The property was two blocks away from the successful Atlantic Quay development.

The Solution

Step 1:

C&W successfully negotiated the purchase of the property and 12 months later were able to acquire the neighbouring property at 200 Broomielaw. This was a Listed building and was formerly known as the Seaman's Mission.

Step 2:

C&W worked as part of the client's design team to achieve a detailed planning consent for a new 7,433 sq m (80,000 sq ft) waterfront building. This was secured in the Spring of 2001.

Step 3:

During the instruction, a marketing campaign was structured to target local, national and international occupiers. This campaign was very high quality and involved the production of marketing brochures and websites as well as the organisation of promotional events.

The Results

Broomielaw was completed in Autumn 2004. The building was fully let to WS Atkins 3,298 sq m (35,500 sq ft) and ACE Insurance 4,072 sq m (43,827 sq ft).
