Design modern CAT A office space

The Challenge

Our brief was to design a light and modern CAT A 25,000 sq ft office space in a partial occupied multi tenant office space. Enhance the image of the building externally and internally whilst complying to local authority requirements and to achieve a Gold SKA Rating whilst maintaining a fixed programme within cost constraints.


The Solution

The finishes and product were carefully selected and co-ordinated with the contractor, client and external consultant SKA assessor to ensure they achieved the SKA requirements at an early stage of the project. The finishes and design of the new reception and atrium space provided a fresh, neutral communal environment whilst injecting an up to date modern look and feel of the new façade. To hit the construction milestone dates of the structural alterations to the front elevation regular workshops were set up between the Planning Consultant, designer and contractor. The programme was set up to allow for the planning process and enabled full design of the scheme. We created a full design and advised that the project be tendered on a traditional lump sum basis.


The Results

The building was completed within programme and budget with Local Authority approval. The refurbishment provided the client and lettings agents with a space that was suitable for the current lettings market. The project was awarded the Gold SKA rating and the building was shortlisted for the FX Eco Project or Product Award 2011.
