New Design Centre HQ in Soho for Nokia

The Challenge
C&W completed the final phase of the 40,000 sq.ft fit out for Nokia in Soho to house their new Design Centre – the space responsible for the design of the new handsets.
This phase was designed by a leading San Francisco designer, Holt Hinshaw, who had worked with the user previously but not in London.
The Solution
Holt Hinshaw provided a concept scheme for the building and then C&W used this to produce a set of tender documents to allow the project to be procured on a single stage tender basis, thereby ensuring cost and programme certainty from the point of appointing the contractor.
One of the biggest challenges here was to manage the design to ensure that the brief was being met in terms of materials and products that were being specified in the US and to US imperial sizes which did not match with UK metric sizing.
C&W used our experience and contacts within the London fit out market to ensure that the products selected not only matched the design brief but could also be procured within the very quick project timescales.
The Results
Regular liaison throughout the project with Holt Hinshaw and the client resulted in a very successful project and Nokia scoring our project management team with some of the highest marks ever given for the management of one of their office fit outs.
The project was successfully completed to time and within budget in March 2009.
