The Challenge
Cushman & Wakefield was instructed by Atos as part of their due diligence following the announcement of the purchase of Siemens IT Services and Solutions. Following investor approval, the purchase would result in the relocation of over 400 staff from Siemens existing facility in Frimley. As well as a straight relocation of staff from Frimley, Atos also wanted to review the possibility of accommodating a move from their existing Reading HQ at New Century Place where they have a lease expiry in 2012.
The Solution
Due to HR issues it was important to identify opportunities within a set distance from both the existing Frimley and Reading offices. We undertook a detailed analysis of current staff locations and travel to work times and initiated a confidential search for suitable premises to accommodate both the relocation and the possible consolidation of the two offices.
The Results
Cushman & Wakefield indentified a number of options meeting each scenario and provided detailed financial analyses. Following a review of the analyses it was decided to pursue two premises that could accommodate the consolidation of the staff from the two offices.
Building 1020 at IQ Winnersh, extending to 47,168 sq.ft., was identified as the favoured option due to the high specification of the new build offices and the proximity of good rail and road connections due to the time frame of the company purchase, it was imperative that negotiations and legals were concluded within 2 months from the initial inspection.
