Five Guys Secures Prominent Madrid Opening

US-based burger chain Five Guys has secured its first flagship outlet in Madrid and is seeking to add further stores in Spain.

Advised by Cushman & Wakefield’s Cross Border Retail and Spanish teams, the fast-growing US restaurant chain was able to secure the prominent unit located on Gran Via, one of the most popular international streets in Madrid.

Mark Barrett, a partner in Cushman & Wakefield’s Leasing Retail team, said: “Using our market leading retail teams across Europe, we were able to advise Five Guys on complicated leasing strategies and licensing which allowed them to progress with speed and secure the unit against fierce competition.”

Joanna Joyce, associate partner from the Cushman & Wakefield Tenant Rep team in Madrid, added: “We were able to close this deal in three weeks, which was extraordinary and demonstrates that when an operator is aware of the importance of a specific location they will do everything in their power to secure it.”
