Exeter and Bristol based property company, Eagle One, has disposed of its interest in the former Royal Eye Infirmary in Plymouth.

The property was originally acquired in 2005, when it was leased to the NHS. The NHS vacated in January 2013 when it relocated to the new, purpose built accommodation in Derriford hospital.

The original listed building was constructed in 1901, with a significant extension added in the 1940’s. In 2015, planning consent was granted for the demolition of the extension to provide a new 165 bed student housing scheme, together with conversion of the listed building into private apartments.

Eagle One completed the demolition of the extension, prior to the disposal of the student housing plot to Maple Grove Developments in February 2016 and has now completed the sale of the listed building to a local developer.

Cushman & Wakefield and Stratton Creber acted for Eagle One in the sale of the student development plot and listed building respectively.
