Cushman & Wakefield Appointed Advisors to HM Revenue & Customs With Double Contract Award

Multi-year contracts will see firm provide surveying and rating services for HMRC across the UK

Latest win for growing Public Sector team led by John Keyes

Cushman & Wakefield has been appointed by HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) to deliver surveying and business rates services following a competitive tender process.

The contracts, which will each last for a minimum of three years, will see Cushman & Wakefield advise HMRC across its entire estate consisting of over 200 properties across the UK.

Surveying services for HMRC will include valuations, acquisitions and disposals, dilapidations, asset management advice and all aspects of landlord and tenant matters. A second contract will see Cushman & Wakefield provide business rates services and advice to HMRC.

The work will include supporting HMRC on its Estates Transformation programme, which will see the acquisition of new sites and a national reorganisation around Regional Centres, and supporting HMRC as it creates a new Estates Management System.

The appointments by HMRC follow Cushman & Wakefield’s reappointment to the Crown Commercial Service’s Estates Professional Services Framework, in 2017. The four-year framework provides central government, local authority health trusts, emergency services, schools, housing associations and regeneration agencies with direct access to a full range of Cushman & Wakefield services on a national basis.

John Keyes, Chair of Public Sector at Cushman & Wakefield, said: “This double appointment by HMRC reflects Cushman & Wakefield’s deep public sector expertise and our track record of achieving long-term efficiencies and value for money for public bodies. Our team will advise HMRC across their entire estate, working in close partnership with HMRC Estates at both a strategic level and on the ground.”

Mike Flecknoe, Partner in the Rating team at Cushman & Wakefield, said: “We are delighted to have been appointed by HMRC Estates. As HMRC undertakes an ambitious Estates Transformation programme, our priority will be to ensure their rates liability is correct and maximum value of money for the taxpayer is achieved.”

Cushman & Wakefield is appointed to numerous public sector frameworks and works extensively with clients across central and local government and the health and education sectors. The firm advises the public sector not only as occupiers of commercial property but also on how best to use the private sector to viably deliver its policy aims, from housing delivery to social care to urban regeneration.
