Our Out of Town Retail investment team (three Partners, one Associate and two Surveyors) is widely acknowledged as a market leader in retail warehouse and food store investment. Acting for a broad range of landlords, investors and developers across the UK and Northern Ireland, the team has transacted over £6bn worth of investment deals in the last 5 years. A key part of the Out of Town Retail team is working closely with agency and lease advisory colleagues to provide comprehensive, well informed, pragmatic and commercially focused advice to clients across the sector.


Our agency experts provide specialist leasing advice to landlords and developers across the UK. Our strong knowledge of retailers’ requirements allows us to identify opportunities to lease space on the best possible terms for our landlord clients.


We have extensive expertise in the development of all forms of out of town retail property including standalone DIY stores, retail parks, edge of centre schemes and food stores. We provide landowners, developers and retailers with advice on site potential, development value, acquisition and tenant demand. We are currently advising on over 1.5 m sq ft of retail warehouse development.

Asset management

Asset management requires an integrated approach combining input from leasing, development, investment and lease advisory. Our single team structure enables us to be highly effective in providing retail asset management advice. We currently manage over 90 retail parks throughout the UK totalling 11m sq ft.

Retailer advice

We act on a retained and non-retained basis for many of the leading retailers active within the out of town sector.

Our advice covers the acquisition of new stores and disposal of surplus space as well as more strategic consultancy around portfolio re-orientation where retailers are seeking to maximise their existing property portfolios including buying-in freeholds, sale and leasebacks and lease restructuring e.g. early surrenders or regears.

For retailers who want to enter the UK out of town retail sector, we specialise in advising them; starting from high level research based consultancy through to detailed new store negotiations.

Food retail

Food retail is a major component of the out of town retail market. We have considerable expertise in this highly specialised sector advising landlords, developers, investors and supermarket operators. On a non-retained basis, we act for a number of the major supermarket operators introducing and advising on new store opportunities in this highly competitive and fast growing sector.

Lease advisory
